Bowdish Model Railroad

The Bowdish Model Railroad will once again be open for visitors to view at the Jefferson County History Center during Victorian Christmas. Thousands of people in Western Pennsylvania visited Brookville from 1919 to 1955 to see Charles Bowdish’s special Christmas display. By 1955 he created his last exhibits in Brookville and moved his work to the Buhl Planetarium in Pittsburgh. He traveled to Pittsburgh and supervised people there who helped him build a new scene each Christmas season. In 1992 the exhibit moved to the Carnegie Science Center. Some of his original pieces were later returned to town on loan to be displayed at the JCHC.
