The fatal victim in Tuesday's fiery motor vehicle crash at Tybouts Corner in New Castle was identified by Delaware State Police on Wednesday evening.

Troopers reported that 53-year-old Eugene Downward, of Townsend, had been stopped in his 2003 Dodge Neon, at a traffic signal on U.S Route 13 at Red Lion Road, when it was struck from behind by a box truck.

The force of the collision caused Downward's vehicle to spin out and burst into flames, DSP previously reported. He was trapped inside the fiery wreckage and pronounced dead at the scene.

The box truck--which had been operated by 62-year-old Harold Holloway, Jr., of Bridgeport, Connecticut--also struck two other vehicles, which had both been stopped in the same vicinity.

For his role in the crash, including a charge of operation of a vehicle causing death of another person, Holloway was awaiting arraignment, indicated troopers.
