Three Reynoldsville residents have been charged with an April 4 burglary on Donahue Road in Brady Township, according to a criminal complaint filed at District Judge Patrick Ford’s office in DuBois.
Daniel Dakota Drexler, 28, and Cristy Marie Caltagarone, 38, both of 107 Brown St., Reynoldsville, have each been charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal conspiracy and criminal trespass.
Joseph James Alderton, 26, 1131 The Lane, Reynoldsville, has been charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass, theft by unlawful taking and a misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, the police received a report of a burglary in progress at 4:38 a.m. on April 4 on Donahue Road. The caller reported that he observed a white sedan parked in the driveway of the residence and that he saw flashlights in the residence. The caller said he spoke to the owner and knows that he lives in New Jersey and that no one should have been at the residence.
When the police arrived at the residence, the white sedan was in the driveway. Police parked their patrol car at the end of the driveway and shut off the headlights. They saw flashlights being used on the second floor and saw the light moving throughout the second floor.
Police said they then saw two of the defendants leave the residence through the side door leading to the basement. Both of them were taken into custody. They were searched and placed into the rear seat of the patrol car. They reportedly were in possession of a pair of Gordini gloves and a yellow and black Energizer head lamp.
The police remained on scene until an additional unit arrived and at 6:35 a.m. entered the residence while other officers stayed with the two defendants in the patrol vehicle. Upon making entry into the residence, the police reportedly found a third defendant hiding in the upstairs bedroom.
The defendant was taken into custody and searched. A search of the defendant revealed four gold rings, a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine, a clear glass straw and two radios and flashlights.
Alderton was placed in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail. Drexler was released from jail after posting $25,000, while Caltagarone remains free after posting bail set at $10,000.
All three preliminary hearings have been scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday at Ford’s office.
