BROCKWAY — Although Johnsonburg leading scorer Kacey Raubenstrauch was held to just three points, the Rams still got enough from the rest of the team in a 48-35 win over Brockway on Thursday evening.
Trevor Lobaugh paced the Rams with 13 points on the night, while Ben Freeburg put in 11 points.
Carter Adams led Brockway with 15 points on a night where the Rover offense struggled at times.
The Rovers’ Jon Wood started off the game with a three-pointer, but Johnsonburg responded with a 10-0 run over the next three minutes to jump out to a 10-3 lead.
Freeburg started the run with a hoop-and-a-harm for a three-point play, and also proceeded to score the next four points. Austin Green then hit a three-pointer that forced Brockway to call a timeout.
The Rams worked its way up to an 18-10 lead by the end of the first quarter.
Neither side put on a big offensive display in the second quarter, but the Rams did get off on the right foot with five quick points from Lobaugh. His trey gave the Rams a 23-10 lead with 6:01 to play in the first half.
Raubenstrauch also hit a three for his only points of the game as the Rams took a 28-17 lead to halftime.
The Rams worked the lead up to 17 points early in the third quarter before the Rovers could cut it to a six-point deficit by the end of the period.
Adams started it off with a three before Zane Puhala and Noah Vokes each had buckets.
Adams and Wood both had layups late in the quarter as the Rams led 34-28 with a quarter to play.
Johnsonburg started the fourth off with six quick points, which built the lead back to 12. Isaac Schloder had his lone four points in the first couple minutes of the fourth.
Later in the quarter, the Rams went 8-for-8 from the foul line to close out the game. That capped off a perfect 13-for-13 from the stripe for the contest.
Green had nine points for the Rams, while Tyler Singer had eight.
Wood put in eight for the Rovers, while Puhala poured in six points.
Johnsonburg, which improved to 14-6 on the season, closes out the season with two games at home. The Rams take on Kane this evening, and DuBois on Monday.
The Rovers (11-9) close out the season with a pair of games on the road. They are at Ridgway this evening and Clarion on Monday.
