CLARION – William “Bill” Miller has held several titles during his 41 years in Clarion, including men’s and women’s swimming coach at the university, proprietor of a local bed and breakfast, community volunteer having served on multiple boards, and borough councilman during the 1980s.
RICHLAND TWP. – A Clarion man is facing homicide by vehicle and other charges stemming from a May 4 crash that killed a local man and injured a woman in the yard of their Turkey City home.
BRADY TWP. – Angela and Darwin Burtner were caught by surprise when a group of 12 young travelers came paddling down the Allegheny River late Thursday afternoon. The Burtners also responded to an opportunity to help the youths.
ALCOLA – The “most exciting week of the year in Clarion County” will kick off on Sunday as the Clarion County Fair returns to Redbank Valley Municipal Park in Alcola.
HAWTHORN – Breakfast recently got a boost in Hawthorn with the opening of a new restaurant along the town’s main drag.
NEW BETHLEHEM – Despite not having a quorum to take official action at its meeting last week, the Redbank Valley Chamber of Commerce heard reports and plans on past and future chamber events.
TEMPLETON – A Templeton-area couple is living the sustainable agriculture lifestyle on about 60 acres of land. Kate and Jim Gurnsey hold regular jobs in the outside world during the day, returning to their little slice of Eden in the evenings to tend their garden and farm animals.
NEW BETHLEHEM – Two Redbank Valley High School students were recently selected to serve their community as junior members of New Bethlehem Borough Council and the Redbank Valley Chamber of Commerce.
SLIGO – Sligo Borough Council granted approval at its July meeting for a committee to look at the replacement or refinishing of signs welcoming visitors to the town.
RIMERSBURG – At its monthly meeting on July 2, the Rimersburg Borough Council passed a resolution to apply for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding to help renovate the Rimersburg Community Building.
